Three types of tea and its benefits

Tea is one of the most famous and oldest drinks in the world and is considered the second drink consumed after water, and thousands of years ago the Chinese used the tea plant, which is scientifically called: Camellia sinensis, and after discovering its taste and health benefits, they took the initiative to pay attention to its cultivation and marketing, and neighboring countries in East and South Asia followed, until tea is currently grown in more than 50 countries around the world. Tea cultivation requires certain climatic conditions, as it needs a lot of sunlight and a lot of water, and therefore its production is geographically limited to areas characterized by a tropical or subtropical atmosphere, as the tea that reaches us to consume it has passed through a production process of several stages. After the tea is planted and its growth is completed, the harvesting stage comes, which we mentioned that it is often done by manual picking to ensure quality, as the use of machines leads to harvesting broken or incomplete leaves, which reduces the quality of tea. From this subtropical green plant, different types of tea are produced, the most famous of which are: black, green and white, and this difference is mainly due to the time of harvesting the plant and the way its leaves are processed after picking.

Types of tea

All teas come from the same plant, but these types differ according to the stage of picking the leaves of this plant. There are many different types of tea such as black tea, white tea, green tea, yellow tea, oolong tea, pure tea, flavored tea, and herbal tea, but the most widespread and consumed are black and green tea, and this difference is mainly due to the method of processing tea leaves after picking.

1-Black tea:

It is called black tea, but in China it is known as "red tea" due to the color it gives to boiling water when added to it. It is stronger in taste than other less oxidized teas; black tea is the most produced and consumed in the world, unlike other teas, and is also the type used as a base for flavored tea.

Black tea is obtained through some stages, the first of which is picking the leaves of the plant and then subjecting them to the drying, winding and fermentation process, and these leaves are oxidized by exposing them to air for a long period of time, which results in the decomposition of enzymes and the leaves obtain their brownish-black color, and their distinctive smell.

The green tea leaves are harvested and then immediately heated and dried to prevent oxidation that will turn the green leaves brown and change their fresh flavors. Limiting green tea processing to these few processes is an explanation for why it retains a higher concentration of chlorophyll, polyphenols and antioxidants offset to other teas, so it clearly helps in metabolism.

White tea has a mild taste and a touch of fruit or floral flavor, and also contains lower levels of caffeine balanced to other teas.
